The World's Most Curious Wine Bottle (App)

Can't afford a flight to New Zealand? Not to worry. The people behind Brancott Estate want to bring Marlborough to you.

The winery, a pioneering force that produced and released the first bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc in 1979, has launched a free mobile app that promises to deliver everything but a vineyard soil sample.

The World's Most Curious Bottle app activates more than a dozen experiences on your smartphone, from handy wine and food pairing tips to virtual tours of the Brancott vineyard and up-close encounters with New Zealand's endangered native falcon.

Using your iPhone or Android, simply scan the code on the back of the wine label or on select Brancott Estate print ads and step into Kiwi territory. Pair your digital wine experience with a bottle of the 2010 Brancott Estate Marlborough Pinot Noir. Its velvety tannins, ripe cherry, and savory spice flavors will remind you that flying is overrated.
