World's Best Airport Bars (Slideshow)

World’s Best Airport Bars

These are the airports where you'll want to have a layover.

#12. The Red Lion, Gatwick Airport, England

If you're looking for craft beer on your London layover, look no further. The Red Lion serves Six Point, Goose Island, and even Brew Dog draughts. Couple that with their tasty traditional pub snacks, and you may just miss your connecting flight.

#11. Cru Wine Bar, Denver International Airport

Not many airport bars, or bars in general, have a four-and-a-half star Yelp rating, but Cru has the feel of an intimate, cozy wine bar right smack in the center of a busy airport. The bar offers a rotating list of wines that are sold by the bottle or glass, or in convenient tasting flights. Top off your wine with an elegant cheese plate and extend your vacation just a little longer.

#10. Le Grand Comptoir, George Bush Intercontinental Airport

Most would probably not peg Houston as being an airport wine bar destination, but this sleek spot has Foursquare users calling it an "oasis in the middle of all the hubbub of George Bush Intercontinental Airport." Peruse and sample the 80 styles of wine by the glass while you wait to take off.

#9. Eyecon, Copenhagen Airport

Duck breast and prawns aren't typical airport food, but Eyecon isn't a typical airport bar. This bar serves a high-end selection of tapas-style snacks along with a wide variety of Danish beers and the country's signature aquavit.

#8. Beer Garden, Munich Airport

You don't even have to leave the airport to find an authentic German biergarten. Even though this beer garden is roofed in, the ceiling is glass and the indoor garden boasts real chestnut trees and even a maypole, so you'll still have the feeling of being in a big outdoor space as you watch the comings and goings of the busy airport.

#7. Frescobaldi, Leonardo da Vinci Airport

There are two Frescobaldi locations to choose from in Rome's airport, both run by beloved Italian wine expert Ancleto Bleve, of Rome's beloved wine bar Casa Bleve, and both featuring a full gamut of selections from the ancient and revered Frescobaldi wine company from Tuscany.

#6. Pool Bar, Singapore Changi Airport

Don't pack your swimsuit in your checked luggage! There's a swimming pool at the Terminal 1 hotel. Admittance is free even if you're not a guest (but there's a charge to use the pool), and the bar serves up a mean Singapore sling.

#5. Laurelwood Public House and Brewery, Portland (Ore.) International Airport

You expect to drink great beer in Portland, so why not expect to drink great beer at Portland's airport? Forget flight delays; considering that Laurelwood has been lauded for its fantastic microbrews, you might want to get to the airport early just to make sure you have time to sample enough. Even the notoriously picky beer lovers at Beer Advocate love the beer selection at this airport bar enough to give it four and a half stars.

#4. Bubbles, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Bubbles offers an ultra-modern wine bar experience that ranges from the fancy (€95 [$120] glasses of Château Mouton-Rothschild) to the casual (sparkling wine or Heineken). Trip Advisor reviewers love Bubbles' "killer selection of white burgs and Tattinger bubbles with some prosecco and sake." No matter how jet-lagged you are on your layover, the cool neon vibe in this bar will put you in party mode for your European vacation.

#3. Jet’s, Belize City Airport

A beach bar in a busy airport? Yep. Keep that relaxed, Belize feeling just little while longer as you sip rum punch among the touristy kitsch at Jet's. The bar recently reopened after a fire last year, but the laid-back vibe hasn't changed.

#2. One Flew South, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport

This bar is consistently ranked at four and a half stars across Google, Yelp, and Trip Advisor. Travelers can't get enough of its upscale spin on Atlanta's famous Southern hospitality. The bar offers signature craft cocktails like the basil julep, a blend of rye whiskey, fresh basil, and local ginger syrup that are so tasty you might forget about your flight.

#1. Center Bar, Zurich Airport

Want caviar and Champagne without a first class seat? At Center Bar, you got it. This chic airport bar has an extensive wine list and seafood menu you've got to see to believe, offering everything from classic smoked salmon steaks to caviar and sushi. In 2013, Food and Travel Experts even named Center Bar their Airport Bar of the Year.
