For fans of film and horology, the latest offering from Swiss luxury watch brand IWC Schaffhausen may be the perfect addition to your growing timepiece collection. Partnering with the event for the third year in a row, the label is once again the Official Festival-Time Partner of the Tribeca Film Festival and has designed a unique piece to be auctioned off at Christie’s online, with proceeds supporting the Tribeca Film Institute.
“For many years now, we have had a passion for cinema. Every filmmaker tells a story with their films, and at IWC, storytelling is in our DNA,” says Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen. “Tribeca Film Institute has proved year in and year out to be one of the world’s premier charitable organizations when it comes to nurturing and elevating young filmmakers. It is a privilege to be in our third year of our partnership with such a highly regarded institution and a film festival.”

The Portofino Monopusher Edition Tribeca Film Festival 2015 piece is one-of-a-kind and features a single push button that starts, stops and resets the chronograph. Housing IWC’s in-house movements and a stunning 192 hour power reserve, the timepiece is powerful as well as beautiful. To display their Hollywood connections, subdials at the 12 and six o’clock hour feature a red-carpet-inspired hue, while the “slate-colored dial is inspired by the streets of Tribeca in New York.” On the back, the piece features an engraving of the Tribeca Film Festival logo with the words “Unique Piece” written underneath.

While there is no official estimate on the timepiece’s final price, it is a limited-edition, one-off collector’s item and at the time of publication, has a current bid of $40,000. “Christie’s is proud to partner with IWC to offer a one-of-a-kind watch to benefit Tribeca Film Institute. We have a shared passion for quality, design, and fine watchmaking. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire not only an exceptional timepiece, but to also make a difference to the future of a filmmaker,” commented John Reardon, International Head of Christie’s Watches.

In addition to owning the coveted timepiece, the auction winner will also receive two tickets to IWC’s For the Love of Cinema Gala Dinner on April 16 as well as a two night stay at the Trump Soho Hotel for the event. Here guests will be entertained with musical performances and mingle with celebrities while enjoying the evening. "TFI is pleased to continue to work with IWC,” says Ryan Harrington, VP of Artist Programs at Tribeca Film Institute. “For the past two years, we have seen the proceeds of this auction benefit our filmmakers and look forward to continuing to foster talent by providing them with the necessary means to complete their work.”
Bidding ends April 10, 2015.
