This GLBT bar opened in 1962, and ever since then, it's been one of the greatest outdoor drinking patios in town. The pool table is popular, and the Bloody Mary's are strong. It's really quirky, and the patrons are a lively punch, so definitely check out this dive.

Foursquare Tips

  • Have a drink in the funky garden out back, one of best bar gardens in SF. Garden closes around 10pm.
  • Another old dive on the hill (Bernal Heights) Great place to drink beer, shoot some pool, then go outside on their patio and smoke...
  • Great hangout. Good prices and the Patio rocks eclectic. You will want to take a cab coming and going.
  • The patio is great! You could be anywhere.....but here is where I want to be :)
  • It's a lesbian bar... Put the seat down.
  • Feeling playful? Rock the swing!
  • Best backyard patio bar in the city. Hand down!
  • Arnold Palmer Press is perfect on a sunny afternoon. I also highly recommend you check out their secret garden :-)
  • Way toooooo ghetto and scary. On a sat night, that is. People = annoying and loud.
  • their Mojitos are GREAT
  • Have a beer on the patio on a sunny day.
  • Though founded as a lesbian-friendly establishment, Wild Side West draws all Bernal Heights residents for its saloon-like vibe, live music, fireplace and quirky garden out back.
  • Good service, amazing people and cheap drinks. Bring cash and have a blast.
  • Behind the main bar, there's a patio with a few nooks and crannies for starters, but descend the stairs into a wonderland of berzerk sculptures, lovely gardens, benches and bench swings.
  • The "view" at this institution is untraditional, but it has a secret garden-slash-backyard filled with hidden corners, leafy benches and groups of friends whiling away a weekend day.
  • People. Drinks. Vibe. Ambiance.
  • One can find secret and standout sculptures peeking out through the greenery, making it the perfect spot for a pint of beer and (if the mood should strike) some psychedelic mushrooms.
  • One of the first bars I went to in SF when I moved in 2003. Probably one of the best backyards ever. It feels like Alice In Wonderland and someone will probably give you weed.
  • Spend some time in the back downstairs patio. Awesome art and an urban oasis.
  • I liked the woman that had no teeth.
