The Westin New York Grand Central Opens

The Westin New York Grand Central, the second Westin hotel in Manhattan, has opened after a $75 million renovation in the former New York Helmsley Hotel.

The hotel, with 774 eco-friendly rooms, includes the soon-to-open THE LCL: Bar & Kitchen, a 3,000-square-foot WestinWORKOUT fitness studio, and meeting space. Leona's, an American restaurant in the New York Helmsley Hotel, remains open.

THE LCL: Bar & Kitchen will offer an extensive selection of local small-batch spirits, regionally brewed craft beers, and organic, sustainable, and biodynamic wines paired with locally sourced comfort food. Menu items will include roasted beets and Coach Farms Chevre cheese salad; LCL flame-grilled LaFrieda Burger; and Great New York Cheddar cheese and mac. THE LCL: Bar & Kitchen will also serve drinks and food for travelers on-the-go, like Stumptown coffee and Organic Avenue juices. Located in the hotel's lobby, THE LCL: Bar & Kitchen is the first bar and food concept from nightlife proprietor Gerber Group in a Westin property.

"We have greatly anticipated the opening of The Westin New York Grand Central, as it marks a new era for this historic hotel and its neighborhood," said Brian Povinelli, global brand leader for Westin Hotels & Resorts. "Our new landmark property will become a hub for both business and leisure travelers due to its prime location and the draw of the signature Westin experience, designed to provide our guests a bit of well-being in the center of bustling New York City."

To mark the grand opening, guests can receive 10 percent off the best available rate plus daily complimentary in-room breakfast for two until March 31, 2013. Rates start at $269.
