Weekly Opening Report: August 9, 2013
Every week, we take a look at some of the restaurants that have opened or will soon open across the country. Here's this week's roundup:
Pie Face: The 24-hour Australian pie shop opened their fifth New York City location on Ninth Avenue, according to a release. They have a "Pay With a Tweet" event, where customers can get a free seasonal pie by tagging Pie Face on Twitter or Facebook and showing it at any of the five locations on the first Tuesday of every month between 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. By the end of the year, Pie Face expects to have opened a total of ten stores in the U.S.
CityRib: The barbecue restaurant is now open in Jamaica, Queens, according to a release. The barbecue menu includes short ribs, baby back ribs, spare ribs, hand carved brisket, pulled pork shoulder, and more. Each item comes with a side and cornbread, and customers can order combos if they want to try more than one barbecue selection. CityRib also has sandwiches, burgers, and salads.
VACCA Grill & Lounge: The restaurant is now open in Inwood, with a Euro-Latino-inspired steak and seafood menu, according to a release. VACCA is not just a restaurant, but also an art gallery, showcasing work from Dominican Republic artists.
Atlanta, GA
Shake Shack: The popular burgers and shakes chain will open in mid-2014 in Atlanta's Buckhead, according to Creative Loafing Atlanta.
Boston, MA
Rox Café: The now-open café has a restaurant, bar, and a market for takeout, according to Eater. The Newton restaurant seats 60 people and uses locally sourced ingredients in their dishes.
Washington, DC
ShopHouse: The pan-Asian fast casual chain will open its third location in Georgetown on August 19th, according to Washington Post. Expect another location popping up in California late August.
Los Angeles, CA
Lady M Confections: The New York bakery, known for its 20-layer mille crepe cake, opened a new location in Los Angeles, according to Eater. In addition to their popular mille crepe cake, Lady M also serves croissants, sandwiches, and Stumptown coffee.
Sebastopol, CA
Zazu Kitchen + Farm: The Next Iron Chef contestant Duskie Estes and husband John Stewart opened their relocated restaurant under a new name, Zazu Kitchen + Farm, according to a release. Their new restaurant has farm-to-table dishes, cured meats, artisanal coffee, beer, wine, a glass blowing studio, a bronze foundry, and more.
Santa Barbara, CA
The Lark: The new restaurant, located in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone, is now open, according to a release. They serve New American small plates featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Dallas, TX
Tanoshii Ramen: The ramen restaurant, located in Deep Ellum, will open during the second week of September, Eater reported. Ramen lovers can look forward to eating house-made noodles and Asian street food till 4 a.m. on the weekends.
Miami, Florida
The Traymore: The restaurant, which will be housed in Miami Beach's Metropolitan by COMO, will feature Florida seafood, according to a release. The hotel will open in December, and will also have a Met Bar for spirits and champagne, as well as a rooftop COMO Shambhala juice bar.
Philadelphia, PA
Ashton Cigar Bar: In September, the owners of Holt's Cigar Company will open Philadelphia's only public place to enjoy cigars and a drink indoors, according to a release. The cigar bar will have a selection of over 200 cigars, including the Ashton, their brand of cigars made in the Dominican Republic. Drinks include a selection of 200 whiskeys as well as signature cocktails.
Greenville, SC
Chicken Salad Chick: The fast-casual restaurant will open in Greenville on August 13th, according to a release. The chain offers customized chicken salads, soups, and baked desserts.
Arlington, VA
Mussel Bar & Grille: Chef Robert Wiedmaier's third mussel restaurant is now open in Arlington, according to a release. The restaurant, which is open from Tuesdays to Sundays (and Mondays after Labor Day), serves mussels, brick oven fired pizzas, soups, salads, sandwiches, a selection of over a hundred Belgian and craft beers, cocktails, and more.
Seattle, WA
The London Plane: The food and wine eatery is now open, according to Eater, and the larger part of the restaurant will open later on in the year, with a bigger kitchen and food program.
Las Vegas, NV
My Healthy Meal: The smoothie bar's second location is now open, Eater reported. Founder Candace Bailey created a menu of portion-controlled breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with selections such as mixed berry salad, turkey tacos, and stuffed salmon to go with the fruit and vegetable smoothies.
