Aeroméxico, Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Porter Airlines have all begun flying into Dulles International Airport, and Germany's Condor Airlines has begun service to Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport. AirTran is scheduled to start flying from Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport in April.

Chipotle, Pinkberry, and BGR: The Burger Joint have opened at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The airport is also home to two locations of Obrycki's, a Baltimore bar known for its signature crabcakes, which ranked number five on The Daily Meals 31 Best Airport Restaurants Around the World.

Revenue from concessions dropped 5 percent between 2010 and 2011 at Dulles International Airport and Reagan National, so officials are looking for ways to entice travelers before takeoff. In the meantime, passengers can at least grab a burger at President Barack Obama's favorite Five Guys, which has two locations in Concourse A and Concourse B, which serve made-to-order hamburgers and cheeseburgers served with copious amounts of fresh-cut french fries.
