Vermont Farmstead Cheese Acquires Castleton Crackers

Two Vermont-produced specialty foods announced a partnership last week, as artisanal handmade cracker company Castleton Crackers was acquired by award-winning "Old World" cheese company Vermont Farmstead Cheese.

"Vermont is currently home to hundreds of producers of specialty artisanal foods that illustrate the diversity and character of the state and region," Vermont Farmstead Cheese senior vice president Valerie Traynor said in a statement. "Our exciting venture with Castleton Crackers will allow both of our brands to creatively enhance our own product lines while building awareness for Vermont's top-quality specialty food offerings nationally."

Vermont Farmstead Cheese's cheesemakers follow traditional, sustainable dairy farming practices, and established The Vermont Dairy Foundation as a way to develop small family dairy farms in Vermont. Castleton Crackers launched in 2008 and were inspired by a traditional 1800s recipe. Produced entirely by hand, the rustic crackers are available in six flavors: Grafton Graham, Middlebury Maple, Rutland Rye, Windham Wheat, Putney Pumpkin, and Richmond Rosemary.
Sounds like a quality pairing!
