Doron Petersan is the owner of Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats, the acclaimed Washington, D.C.-based vegan bakery and café, author of Sticky Fingers’ Sweets: 100 Super-Secret Vegan Recipes and two-time winner of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars All-Stars.
Doron opened Sticky Fingers in 2002, determined to create delicious, animal-free treats for vegans and non-vegans alike to enjoy. Since then, Sticky Fingers has gained an international fan base and received numerous accolades, including being named D.C.’s "Best Vegan Restaurant" by Washington City Paper for several years in a row.
Before opening Sticky Fingers, Doron worked for two of the largest animal shelters in the country, in New York and Washington, D.C., as an animal handler, technician, and public educator. She currently sits on the board of Pinups for Pitbulls Inc., a non-profit organization committed to educating the public about the history and temperament of the American Pit Bull Terrier and pit bull-type dogs, and supports a number of other animal rights organizations. Doron holds a degree in nutrition and food science from the University of Maryland.
Growing up in an Italian-Jewish family in New York, food played a huge role in Doron’s formative years. Currently residing in Washington, D.C. with her husband and young son Ezra, Doron balances her love of food, her companion animals, competitive cycling, and wine.
