URGE App Delivers Beachside Eats

Miamians who work up an appetite while sunning on South Beach can get their food delivered right on the beach with the URGE app.

While the URGE app accepts food orders for delivery to conventional places in Miami like hotels, condos, and offices, the free app for Android and iPhones also has an "Order from the Beach" function that uses GPS to show the restaurant the customer's location on the sand.

The app shows hungry beachgoers a list of nearby restaurants and their touch-screen menus. When a customer places an order from the sand for food from local spots like 8 oz. Burger Bar, Philippe Chow, I Love Pizza, Chow Down Grill, and Big Pink, the restaurant gets the diner's name, cellphone number, and a map that illustrates the location of the customer on the beach. The food is delivered to customers' location once it's ready.

There's no charge for URGE users, who can choose from 30 local restaurants while on the sand.
