2 Men Held For Trying To Bring Illegal Chocolate Into The US

Two men from Seattle, were detained at the Canadian border after U.S. border agents discovered illegal chocolate candy in their car, according to The Huffington Post.

Brandon Loo and Christopher Sweeney, told KOMO-TV that they decided to buy Kinder Eggs, Italian chocolate eggs with a plastic toy inside, during their visit to Vancouver to bring home to friends and family in the U.S.

Unbeknownst to the men, bringing Kinder Eggs into the U.S. is illegal because the small toys inside may present a potential chocking hazard for children. The guards told Loo and Sweeney that they would be looking at a possible fine of $2,500 per each individual egg for the infraction, according to KOMO-TV.

Loo and Sweeney were lucky and left with only a warning. But the two men are not the first to lose their Kinder Eggs at the border — U.S. Customs and Border Protection confiscated more than 60,000 Kinder Eggs from luggage in 2011, according to The Huffington Post.

That's some Kinder Surprise.
