  • The best place to visit if you want to learn more about Londons history. And of course it houses the Crown Jewels, the most famous jewellery collection in the world
  • From 1235 until 1835, the monarchs personal zoo was kept at the Tower, and it included many exotic animals given as presents by other monarchs, including polar bears, leopards and elephants.
  • Held many prisoners including Charles Bradlaugh in1880 after his request to affirm MPs oath instead of swearing on bible (he was an atheist) was rejected by Parliament
  • It's a beautiful, momentous building but the Tower of London holds a troubling history. A tour through its grounds hold tales of execution, imprisonment and torture.

  • The White Tower is the original home of the Royal Armouries, part of this collection moved to Leeds in 1996 but the White Tower still holds some of the collections to this date.
  • Did you know that Royal Navy ships that enter the Port of London must still provide the Constable of the Tower of London with a barrel of rum? I wish I was him, I bet he'd be drunk most of his life.
  • Probably the best tourist attraction in London, mainly because of the Beefeaters (Yeoman of the Guard) who do the tours (optional, but unmissable) - they tell a story very well!
