Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday celebrated for eight days and nights in late November or December. In Hebrew, the word “hanukkah” means dedication, which goes hand-in-hand with how this special holiday commemorates the re-dedication of the holy Temple in Jerusalem following the Jewish victory in 165 B.C.E. Hoops & Hanukkah is perfect for the avid sports fan. This event allows the celebration of Hanukkah with the Houston Rockets on December 18, 2014. The purchase of a ticket to this event allows the spectator to enjoy a pre-game Chanukah Party at the Root Memorial Square Basketball Court, which is located across the street from the main venue, an awesome t-shirt to the first 350 tickets purchased, Half-Time on the Court Menorah Lighting Ceremony, an exclusive meet and greet with the Omri Casspi and post-game free throws. Houston residents can have fun and enjoy the Menorah Mobile Parade. The parade begins with lighting Houston’s Largest Menorah in the Galleria next to the fountain between Macy’s and Nordstrom. Onlookers will see various vehicles topped with eight-branched festive candelabras known as menorahs that will help to spread the message of Chanukah.
