The Wildlife Habitat

One of the Strip's most beloved free attractions, the Wildlife Habitat at Flamingo Las Vegas features approximately 70 birds, including Chilean flamingos, California brown pelicans, two species of swans, sacred ibis, 10 species of ducks and a macaw. Additionally, the habitat is home to hundreds of freshwater fish, including Japanese koi, white sturgeon, grass carp and albino channel catfish, and around a dozen pond turtles. Guests can watch the pelicans being fed daily at 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and ask staff members questions about the birds, which were found in a harbor in California and so badly damaged by nets, fishing lines and hooks that they couldn't fly. The resort adopted the birds and has rescued several of the habitat's other residents as well, including seven sturgeon that were originally on their way to a restaurant. Flamingo feedings are held daily, too, and brochures are available to educate guests on the habitat's many feathered and finned inhabitants when staff members aren't around.
