Technically, the Twelve Days of Christmas don’t start until Christmas Day, but we’re already in the spirit. To celebrate over the next nine days, here’s the carol, ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ The Daily Meal-style, featuring some New York City dishes enjoyed over the years that we’d be willing to sing about.

The first two lines of the song riffed on a 'Partridge in a Pear Tree' and 'Two Turtle Doves.' Today, 'Three French Hens.' What can we say? We like our French birds crispy. Fried chicken is one of New York City’s many food trends du jour. Right now, we’re about these three. So today, our Christmas food carol would go:

On the third day of Christmas, my waiter brought to me...

Three fried French hens,
Two desserts for two,
And Felidia’s pear ravioli.
