Taste Test: Whole Foods 365 Organic French Toaster Sticks

Don't go into eating Whole Foods' 365 Organic French Toaster Sticks thinking that you'll be eating anything that remotely resembles French toast in flavor. That said, when topped with some maple syrup they're a perfectly acceptable breakfast, especially if you're sick and tired of eating frozen waffles every day and enjoy eating with your hands.

These come in a box of eight "slices," which look more or less like slices of bread that have ridges running down them so they can be easily separated. They toast up light and crispy on the outside while the inside remains soft and almost chewy, and the smell and flavor of them on their own are almost indistinguishable from that of waffles, with a whole-grain flavor and a little bit of sweetness.

Aside from the shape, though, they're completely different from French toast. There's no cinnamon or any of the other flavors there that we frequently associate with the breakfast, so if that's what you're expecting you'll be disappointed (maybe that's why they're called French Toaster Sticks instead of French Toast Sticks). If you're just expecting a different take on a waffle, however, you (and your kids) will have nothing to complain about.
