The Strand Hotel NYC's Fashionable Feast

The Strand Hotel NYC, located in New York's fashion district on West 37th Street, has created a cocktail and dining menu inspired by several of the greatest fashion icons in the industry in honor of New York Fashion Week.

The hotel's restaurant, Strand Bistro, is serving a $38, three-course dinner menu that celebrates some of the top fashion houses. The "Food Is Fashion" menu includes starters like cauliflower soup with a Parmesan crisp, white truffle essence, and chive oil, inspired by Valentino's 1960 White Collection; and butternut squash risotto with squash purée, sage butter, and maple-smoked bacon inspired by Hermès' fall 2012 collection.

The main course includes a choice of seared diver scallop with crispy spiced florets, cauliflower purée, and orange brown butter inspired by Christopher Kane's Spring/Summer 2009 collection; or braised beef Angus short rib with spinach custard and parsnip inspired by the Robert Rodriguez Collection.

The Max Mara Fall 2012 collection is the inspiration for the crispy cheesecake with graham cracker streusel, caramel, and Tahitian vanilla, while Dolce & Gabana's Fall 2012 collection is the muse for the chef's chocolate molten cake with crème anglaise and dulce de leche.

The cocktail menu at rooftop bar Top of the Strand is also offering fashionable $15 cocktails that pay tribute to two of the fashion world's late icons. One cocktail, The Gurley-Brown Show, is inspired by Helen Gurley-Brown, former editor at Cosmopolitan magazine. The potent cocktail consists of prosecco, rhubarb bitters, sugar, and rose petals. The Legend of Zelda cocktail, named for New York fashion socialite Zelda Kaplan, is a mix of jalapeño-infused Avión Silver tequila, fresh cilantro, ginger, and lime.

The special menus are being served until the end of September. Reservations for the special dinner menu are required.
