Add A Spark Of Color To Your Dinner Party

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting New York City's Riverpark Farm for a party in celebration of Chevrolet's newest — and brightest — car, the Spark.

Packed with a whole lot of sass, the Spark not only boasts a hefty list of pluses (great mileage, tech-savvy, tons of cargo space, a small engine), but it's a blast in a compact little package.

But our favorite part of the Spark are the colors — salsa red, jalapeño green, lemonade yellow, techno pink, silver ice —ideal for any kind of personality.

So, you're probably thinking, why were food editors at a car launch? Well, Riverpark Farm and Chevrolet came together to showcase why this car is great, so there were a few rules for the celebration:

1. Wear the brightest colored clothing you own — and as much of it as possible in honor of the Spark's bold hue options.

2. Bring your iPhone or iPod with your top five dinner-party tunes — for the plethora of music options the Spark has inside.

3. Have a great time!

In keeping with the theme, the menu was colorful as well — each one of the five courses, all infused with produce from the farm, was each one more vibrant than the next:

First Course: Farm Vegetable Bruschette

ricotta, zucchini flowers, mint, chiles, smoked eggplant, balsamic vinegar

Second Course: Fish Tacos

tempura battered cod, cabbage, lime cilantro, himachi tartare, avocado, black salsa

Third Course: Grilled Cheese and Soup

chilled tomato and corn soup

Main Course: Surf and Turf Sliders

crispy oysters, green tomato, remoulaude, skirt steak, tomato, green beans, garic & herb fries.

Dessert: Pie and Shake

mini blueberry pie, lemon verbena shake

Are you hungry yet? We don't blame you, because as good as each dish sounds, it tasted even better. Crisp vegetables paired with the freshest cuts of fish and meat, tied together with bold seasonings and unique ingredients made for one successful dinner party — not to mention the eclectic tunes of guests' playlists including doo-wop, techno, top 40, and of course, a little bit of Michael. What's a party without him?

Incorporate these colorful ideas into your next party for a surefire hit!
