Snackshot Of The Day: The Lard Rock Café

The Daily Meal's editors, contributors, and readers dig into some pretty great restaurants, festivals, and meals. There's not always enough time to give a full review of a restaurant or describe in depth why a place, its food, and the people who prepare it are noteworthy, so Snackshot of the Day does what photographs do best, rely on the image to do most of the talking. Today's Snackshot is a photo of a food T-shirt, the Lard Rock Café in Colonnata, Italy.

The photo of this T-shirt was taken at JFK Airport (8/31/2012) en route to Prince Edward Island. Apparently, the Hard Rock Café doesn't deem Italy's famed lardo location and the tourism around it worth pursuing when it comes to ripping off their brand. I haven't been, so I can't speak to what the Lard Rock Café in Colonnata is serving, but cured strips of fatback with rosemary, herbs, and spices from a hamlet that has been making it since Roman times make a pretty good case for just appreciating the riff. (Man, if you couldn't hear the Italian, could you really tell the difference between the Italian and American Harley lovers in this video?)
