A batch of homemade cookies is the perfect thoughtful gift for mom on Mother's Day.

The Daily Meal's editors, contributors, and readers dig into some pretty great restaurants, festivals, and meals. There's not always enough time to give a full review of a restaurant or describe in depth why a place, its food, and the people who prepare it are noteworthy, so Snackshot of the Day does what photographs do best, rely on the image to do most of the talking.

Today's Snackshot is of homemade chocolate chip cookies. This weekend is Mother's Day, so we should all do a little something special for the lovely ladies that brought us into this world. If she has a sweet tooth, try baking some cookies for her. A batch of freshly baked cookies can put a smile on anyone's face, and anyone can make cookies.
