The Smashing Pumpkin cocktail is made at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo.

INGREDIENTS

For the drink:

  • 1 1/2 ounces Bulleit or Maker's Mark Bourbon
  • 1 ounce pumpkin purée (measured in a jigger)
  • 3 segments tangerine with peel
  • 1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
  • 1/2 ounce brown sugar simple syrup

For the brown sugar simple syrup:

  • 2 parts brown sugar
  • 1 part water

DIRECTIONS

For the drink:

Muddle tangerine pieces in glass with brown sugar simple syrup. Add remaining ingredients and ice and shake. Garnish with nutmeg.
 

For the brown sugar simple syrup:

Mix 2 parts brown sugar with 1 part water. Bring to a boil, then let cool before mixing it into the drink.
