The Slide Ride

BEST FOOD TRUCKS 2012: #98

The self-declared original slider truck in Chicago is owned by Nida Rodriguez, who also serves as executive chef. Featuring a rotating menu of sliders, past hits have included a classic rib-eye with provolone, caramelized onion, and horseradish; and a caprese with tomato and mozzarella. In case you were wondering, this is no one-trick pony, The Slide Ride has black pepper Cheddar mac, Sriracha Buffalo chicken, and turtle brownies, among other things. — Nina Fomufod, 11/13/2012

Foursquare Tips

  • Bacon Baby sliders are the best, followed very closely by the Guinness sliders, the BBQ Pulled Pork, and Desert Heat. Get them in a 3-pack!!
  • Everything
  • Had the three sliders and they were delicious but next time I'd go for the lunch box combo because I was uncomfortably full.
  • Had the blue cheese bacon slider. Tasty!
  • Likely my favorite food truck (and trust me, I've been to a LOT of them.) Anything with pork on it is a winner - the PB&J is particularly good!
  • Don't let the mobility of TSR turn you off, burger snobs, these pint-sized patties are near perfection. If you're looking for recommendations, the Guinness Burger has never let me down!
  • The mini sandwiches have a contemporary, international flair. The menu is subject to change, but expect slider options like pork banh mi or Southwestern black bean spread on sturdy torpedo rolls.
  • Order the three pack: blue, Sriracha chicken, and BBQ Pulled Pork!
  • Get the three sliders for $9 and make sure one of them is the bacon baby.
  • Great food and friendly staff.
