Shake Shack Theater District
New York NY 10036

Slowly, Danny Meyer's Shake Shack is changing the landscape of the burger world. It started in Madison Square Park in 2001, with a hot dog cart created by Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group to support the Madison Square Park Conservancy's first art installation. Fans of the cart lined up for three summers until USHG won the bid to open a permanent park kiosk. Then the real fun (and lines) started. The "roadside burger joint" started serving incredibly juicy burgers on potato rolls and rich, thick, creamy custards with mix-ins (concretes), and the best Chicago-style hot dog outside the Windy City. It took until 2007 for the Shack to stay open through winter, but it's since become a New York institution — and spread beyond its borders, immediately ranking among those locales best burgers. Menu additions, mash-ups, and location-specific items have followed at newly launched Shacks in New York, Connecticut, Florida, D.C., Philadelphia, the Middle East, and now London. Location specific items at the Theater District Shake Shack include Great White Way, Prezel! The Concrete, and Jelly's Last Donut conretes. — Arthur Bovino, 11/20/2012

"They have this thing called the 'Shroom Burger for the vegetarians," Miss USA tells us in her NY Diet. "It's just cheese inside a fried mushroom. Oh my God."
This new location just opened, so the lines will be predictably epic. Stop by in the late afternoon when the crowds thin out and order their famed frozen custard along with your burger.
Not to be missed: French fries dipped in salted caramel, a.k.a. the stuff stoner dreams are made of.
Our vote for best burger in the city and while you will have to wait in a long line, it's worth it. Shack burger with cheese fries and a chocolate shake. Say no more.
There are always lines and believe the hype. Pair a Shack Stack with an order of Cheese Fries and a Fair Shake.
The menu's practically identical to the other Shacks, but try some of the new concretes here: Great White Way (vanilla, marshmallow, crunchies) and Pretzel! (choco, peanut butter, pretzels, marshmallo
Guard your seats.
This gourmet burger joint masquerades as a cookie-cutter chain, but don't be fooled: there's some serious gourmet ingredients & styling to this menu. Salted caramel hot cocoa is a must on a cold day.

Order the 'shroom burger if you aren't feeling meaty. It's so good, so juicy, so cheesy! Who needs meat! ;) ps. the fries are super awesome, but next time I'll be sure to ask for no salt.
