Shake Shack Rolling Out Fresh-Cut Fries

Shake Shack is renowned for its consistency—what you get in Madison Square Park will most likely taste exactly the same as what you'll get in Dubai—so when a major change affects the simple menu of burgers, fries, hot dogs, and concretes, it's always big news. For years, one of their most divisive menu items was the crinkle-cut French fries, which were frozen and widely considered to be "meh," although they certainly had plenty of fans. But that all changing: the company announced today that they're switching to fresh-cut fries, and they've already rolled them out at their location on New York's Upper East Side.

The fries will be hand-cut on-premises from skin-on Idaho russet potatoes, and twice fried for ultimate crispiness. CEO Randy Garutti told A Hamburger Today that every new location of Shake Shack will open with them, and all extant locations will begin serving them within the upcoming months, as all the kitchens will need to be slightly remodeled to accommodate a new fry-cutting station.

If you're a fan of the crinkle-cut fries, don't despair: there are still plenty of Nathan's around.
