Schlafly Brewery Is Looking For The 'Inaugural Schlafly Baby'

We get a lot of promotions and brewery news in our inbox, and we knew we just had to share this one out of St. Louis, Mo.: popular St. Louis brewery, Schlafly Brewery, is putting out the feelers to see if they can find the "inaugural baby" of the Schlafly tap room. Because one beer leads to another, and another, and well... you know how the story ends.

Here's Schlafly's hunch: the first Schlafly Tap Room opened December 26th, 1991, according to a blog post. That would mean that if two people met at the tap room, and sparks started flying, well, babies could have been made. From Schlafly: "... the very first child to have been conceived with some form of involvement from our brewery could be turning 21 as early as this fall... and we want to find them, recognize them, and make sure their first legal sip of beer is Schlafly Beer." Heck yes!

The brewery is asking that potential Schlafly babies (and their parents) submit their stories, and the brewery will give the winner a small birthday party at one of the Schlafly restaurants, and even recognize the parents and baby (well, 21-year old baby) at one of the upcoming festivals. Of course, it's a slightly subjective contest — no one's going to be asking for birth certificates or anything — and the brewery is asking to keep the story classy, not trashy. Also in the fine print: "Additionally, you should probably get permission from your son or daughter before submitting your story as this could potentially be embarrassing for them, but hopefully they will understand that this is pretty cool and mildly hilarious." We agree, it's pretty darn cool and hilarious — after all, everyone knows that a good beer = an even better love.
