Where can you try red velvet cake with a Sour Cherry Imperial Stout, or a duck confit taco with a Smoked Vienna Lager? At the hottest craft beer event of the year: SAVOR, "an American Craft Beer and Food Experience," June 8 and 9 in Washington, D.C. And you can enter for the chance to win a pair of tickets from The Daily Meal! 

Now in its fifth year, SAVOR brings unexpected beer and food pairings — not to mention access to an overwhelming number of breweries. More than 70 breweries will be at the event, including some top names like Ommegang, Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, and more. 

This year, chef Adam Dulye of San Francisco's The Monk’s Kettle and The Abbott's Cellar took charge of the pairing menu, thanks in part to D.C.'s Federal City Caterers. Beer lovers can go to round tables and taste 20-plus pairings, as well as indulge in an oyster bar and and artisan cheese bar (yum).

For the SAVOR ticket contest I would pair the Chicken Tawook Skewers with a Corruption IPA from DC Brau Brewing. The spiciness of the hops in this IPA go great with the Middle Eastern taste of this dish. This amber-colored, crisp beer isn't too heavy and neither is this dish! The perfect healthy combo for a backyard summer BBQ! and DC Brau is a local DC brewery! Cheers

I would pair the Mushroom Couscous with a DC Brau Penn Quarter Porter because that seems yummy for a cold night.

For the Jumbo Lump Crab Salad with Seared Watermelon recipe, I'd want a beer that is not too heavy or hoppy, so you can appreciate the sweetness of the crab and melon. Deschutes Red Chair NWPA has the crispness I'd want to cut the savory elements of the yogurt, avocado, and crab, but it also isn't a hop bomb that would overwhelm the dish. Plus it has citrus notes that would play nice with the vinaigrette. It would be a great outdoor pairing.

I'd love to win tickets to SAVOR. I just signed up for thr newsletter and clicked on the link to select a recipe. I don't see any section on the new page that opens called "Best Recipes". Can it just be any recipe at all that's linked there or recipe of the day? Can you clarify, please??

It can be any recipe that you like from the site! If you click on "Best Recipes" on the main tool bar at the top, you can use any of the recipes from that section. Thanks for entering!
