Saks Fifth Avenue To Open New Restaurant At Select Locations
Saks Fifth Avenue will debut a new signature restaurant beginning next year called Sophie's at Saks Fifth Avenue at select locations across the nation, according to a press release.
Named after American fashion designer Sophie Gimbel, Sophie's will specialize in globally influenced American cuisine with an emphasis on wholesome and simple ingredients (Gimbel's would have been a slightly odder choice of name).
Gimbel has cooked, gardened, and canned her own fruits and vegetables, and the food and drink menu is inspired by this concept.
Chef Alexandro Reyes has created the menu for Sophie's, which features local and seasonal ingredients when possible. For beverages, there will be seasonal cocktails, handcrafted sodas, and selection of wines by the glass.
The first Sophie's restaurant will open on the 7th floor of Chicago's Magnificent Mile location in January 2014. Sophie's is also expected to open in Sarasota, Florida, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and, of course, the flagship in New York City.
