I don’t know about you, but I need a vacation. I’m talking sand in between my toes, wind in my hair, a fruity drink in my hand, and disconnecting from everything. The last time I took a vacation like that was just about two years ago this time and it was glorious.
Now, granted, I’m not a sit and relax vacation type person. I’m a on the go, see all the sights, try all the food, soak in all the culture until I’m ready to collapse type vacation person. Sometimes though, you just need to relax for a few days.
I see you nodding your head with me there, and while there have been trips this year, I’m itching a bit for a beachy getaway — one that gives me white sandy beaches, blue oceans, and a rum swizzle with a tiny umbrella next to me.
I remember my first rum swizzle clearly. My trip to Bermuda two years ago had me all excited to finally drink Dark and Stormies where they were created, but once we arrived I learned that the Rum Swizzle is the actual official drink of the island. It’s similar to rum punch, but packs less of a punch, err you get what I mean.
A blend of orange and pineapple juices, bitters and two types of rum means this cocktail is refreshing and goes down easily. So of course, all these fruity flavors would work perfectly into a frozen treat, albeit with a few small changes to make sure it freezes solid!
Pop-tails, aka boozy popsicles, are currently all the rage. You’ve seen them, you’ve probably thought about making one and now you really should.
They don’t get any easier and you can legitimately tell the kids you can’t have this one because it packs a rum punch swizzle. Plus if you’re like me and can’t actually get away to that tropical island in the near future, you can just enjoy your Rum Swizzle popsicle at home while staring at pictures of the beach!
