Robbery Victim Caught With 8,000 Pot Cookies

A young Canadian man who heroically fended off a pair of robbers who invaded his home was arrested last week after police who responded to the robbery call searched the house and discovered the owner was protecting a hoard of more than 8,000 pot cookies.

"I've never seen anything like it before. It's an unprecedented number of cookies," said constable Janelle Shoihet to CBC News. "It was a bit like a bakery in there. So it was surprising to me."

The White Rock Mounties were called to the scene on Thursday afternoon when the 22-year-old resident came home to find two strange men trying to break in and steal his stuff. One of the would-be robbers hit the man over the head with crowbar, but he still managed to drive them off.

According to Gawker, the police later obtained a search warrant to figure out just what was in the house that the assailants might have wanted to steal. Their search turned up both pot and 8,000 pot-laced chocolate chip cookies.

It's a bit of a stretch to imagine that 8,000 chocolate chip cookies, even the normal kind, could be intended for personal consumption, so the 22-year-old man and two women, aged 20 and 54, were arrested with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

All those cookies are probably going stale in an evidence locker somewhere, but check out some of our best cookie recipes for some other preparation ideas.
