Ingredients
  • 5 pound apples, preferably granny smith, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup honey
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Place 1/2 of the apples on a baking sheet greased with nonstick spray. Roast for 10-15 minutes until browned, but not burnt. In a large saucepot, melt the butter and add the remaining half of the apples. Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft enough to mash. Add the spices and honey and stir well, mashing the apples as you go. Add the roasted apples to a pot and combine well, leaving roasted apples in larger pieces. Season with a pinch of salt and then transfer to an ovensafe serving dish. It is best if it is left to sit, then reheated at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until hot.
