Located in the trendy Hotel Zed in Victoria on Vancouver Island, The Ruby serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a cozy, hip environment.

Co-owners Chris Jones and Josh Goyert offer a mix of healthy and rich comfort-food dishes. Calorie conscious diners can opt for quinoa porridge or house made steel cut granola with yogurt. Guests with heartier appetites can choose from a variety of tacos filled with spiced chicken, refried beans, and ground chorizo.

Hash choices include savory options such as duck confit, rotisserie chicken, rotisserie pork, and scrambled tofu. For sweets, you can opt for the banana, pecan, and berry waffles or if you prefer a protein pack start to your day, The Ruby also serves variety of eggs benedict choices.

Lunch and dinner menus include The Ruby’s famous rotisserie chicken, served with sides including sautéed kale, aioli fries, herb mashed potatoes, string beans, and celery slaw and a big slice of house made corn bread.

Other highlights include the chicken, duck, and pork poutine; huge salads featuring rotisserie and spiced chicken; and pork and chicken sandwiches.

Desserts include doughnut holes with chocolate sauce and a banana chocolate chip waffle with caramel sauce.
