Review: Oak Tree
The Ambience
Oak Tree has a very sophisticated, modern ambience. The decor is upscale, but not pretentious. The waitstaff is very attentive and will make you feel like you're the only guest in the restaurant.
The Food
1. Turkey Hash and Over-Easy Eggs: A delightful combination of shredded turkey, onions, bell peppers and perfectly cooked over-easy eggs. It has just the right amount of seasoning for a savory breakfast dish! Not pictured but also noteworthy: Cinnamon-swirl raisin toast that comes as a side.
2. Brioche French Toast with Sauteed Bananas, Mascarpone Cheese and Powdered Sugar: OH YES. This french toast is the holy grail of dessert for breakfast. A fluffy, dense, house-made brioche toast is complemented with caramelized bananas, a dollop of sweet mascarpone and just enough powdered sugar to top it all off. If I do say so myself, this is one of the BEST french toasts I have ever had in my life; it's extremely satisfying and will leave you wanting for more.
The Bakery
Oak Tree has an impressive selection of in-house made artisan breads: asiago onion garlic, raisin pumpernickle and jalapeno cheddar to name a few. These breads make superb lunch sandwiches and are also available to take home.
Thumbs Up!
Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or savory, breakfast or lunch, quick or sit-down, Oak Tree is a prime choice for any foodie in Chicago!
