Restaurant Hospitality Picks America's Best Sandwiches

Restaurant Hospitality sifted through sandwich after sandwich, and has compiled their 2013 list of the Best Sandwiches in America.

They expanded their eight sandwich categories to twelve, naming a best sandwich and two runner-ups for each of the following categories: breakfast, turkey, cheese, burgers, chicken, wraps, pork, vegetarian, submarine, fish, lobster roll, and deli.

Los Angeles sandwiches took the spotlight, they noted. Winning sandwiches from that city include scrambled egg and chorizo from The Sycamore Kitchen, turkey melt from Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop, wood-fired rotisserie chicken sandwich from The Parish, and the lobster roll from Hinoki & the Bird (which The Daily Meal named one of its best lobster rolls outside of Maine).

Since many other notable sandwiches didn't make the cut, the editors from Restaurant Hospitality released their list of the twenty-two runner-ups that almost made it. Among those were FP Patisserie's salmon croquet monsieur, Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro's grilled chicken ciabatta, and Area Four's breakfast sandwich.

It looks like America won't be in shortage of good sandwiches anytime soon.
