Restaurant Critic Roundup: Mother Nature Gives D.C. Restaurant A 'New Lease On Life'

As always, the ratings range from stars to bells to beans, but every review offers specialized insight into the food, atmosphere, and service of eateries in each city's dining scene and the critics eating at them.

This week in San Francisco, M.Y. China "is a little cheeky and over the top," like owner Martin Yan's personality, says critic Michael Bauer. After making it big as one of the first television celebrity chefs, Yan continues in the path he blazed, to "keep people entertained."

In Washington, D.C., "Mother Nature gave Farmers Fishers [Bakers] a new lease on life." After the spring 2011 flood of the Georgetown waterfront, Farmers Fishers Bakers underwent a whole new concept, and was remade, "from scratch."

The New York Times' Pete Wells dines at Lakruwana, a Staten Island Sri Lankan import. "Lakruwana may be New York's most elaborate realization of the immigrant restaurateur's dream," Wells says. It is "a shrine to another culture that can soothe homesickness in some patrons and kindle a thrilling sense of discovery in others."

From the East Coast to the West Coast, from North to South, the weekly restaurant critic roundup is here for all of your dining out needs.
