Researchers Create Healthiest Meal Ever

Considering all the talk of superfruits and omega-3 and "good" cholesterol, sometimes it's difficult to piece them all together without ruining it with a pat or two of butter.

Luckily, scientists at Leatherhead Food Research have discovered the healthiest meal possible, meaning you can eat this three times a day for the rest of your life and be perfectly healthy (probably).

The team looked at 4,000 health claims from manufacturers and supermarkets, whittled that down to 222 claims based on scientific fact, and created the following "healthiest meal ever."

For an appetizer, the scientists chose a smoked salmon terrine, with includes omega-3 fish oils. That's followed by a mixed leaf salad with an olive oil dressing, for normal blood cholesterol levels.

For the main course, researchers suggest a chicken casserole with lentils and vegetables; the protein allows muscle mass growth, while lentils have "pantothenic acid" that can reduce tiredness and up mental performances.

Finally, for dessert, the healthiest dessert possible would include a yogurt-based blancmange with walnuts and a sugar-free caramel sauce. Yogurt helps with digestion; walnuts are considered a superfood that "contribute[s] to the improvement of the elasticity of blood vessels." Not bad for dessert.
