The Redwood features a decent gastro pub menu, but trust that regulars will question your masculinity if you choose a chicken pesto panini over its half-pound grilled angus beef burger.

Rock with a side of rum? Or how about some folk with those fries? Downtown's favorite (okay, Downtown's ONLY) pirate bar serves up a robust schedule of bands and performances.
Esquire
Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. Fun fact: Redwood still maintains a direct phone line to the Los Angeles Times city desk across the street.

Bring your ear plugs. The bands are blasting loud.
Men's Health Mag
The rule on theme joints is you can’t force character. Unless that character is Black Bart. Who doesn’t want to sit around a powder keg drinking with his mates? Naturally, order a bottle of rum.

This is where 500 Days of Summer was filmed. The bar scene.

Where Tom and Summer started their adventure. Also the paninis are bomb.

Pirate themed pub is good for lunch if you have jury duty!!

if you blink you'll miss this place, but they have awesome mac and cheese and decent calamari plus fun decor. they don't, however, do a damn special thing for your birthday. >___< :b

My new favorite bar! Went there to see Big Sandy play...

Parking downtown is always bad, but if you show up just as a show is letting out at the Walt Disney Concert Hall or the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, you may get lucky and find some street parking.

Golden Road IPA on tap.
Long Beach Huntington
Be sure and go see Hellbat when they play.

Only one thing to say "Sweet Potato Fries"!!!

looks great!

They've got great french fries here, large and crisp and they come with ranch dressing for dipping. I like the spicy ones but don't worry, they are hardly spicy at all. Try some today!
Steven V.
Grilled cheese is very good. I thought cajun fries were a bit too salty.

Great bar on 2nd Street in Downtown LA. You can catch some great up and coming bands anytime during the week.
