Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 pound foster farms organic ground turkey
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 medium white onion, chopped
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes, fire roasted - unsalted, drained
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon southwest spice blend
  • 1 spices, bay leaf [usda:2004]
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • black pepper to taste
  • 3/4 cup butternut squash, chopped
  • 1/2 cup frozen corn
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1 tablespoon ancho chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon chipotle powder
  • 1 teaspoon spices, pepper, red or cayenne [usda:2031]
  • 1 tablespoon spices, garlic powder [usda:2020]
  • 1 teaspoon spices, onion powder [usda:2026]
  • 2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoon spices, paprika [usda:2028]
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon spices, oregano, dried [usda:2027]
Directions
  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a medium pan and brown the ground turkey . Add 1 teaspoon black pepper and stir Remove and transfer to the crock pot Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a medium pan, add onion and garlic, stir until fragrant. from the heat and transfer to the crockpot Add diced tomatoes, cumin, coriander, salt, pepper, bay leave and southwest spice blend (You may also use : pre made/store bought Southwest Chili Mix or Southwest Spice Blend powder), then stir. Turn the slow cooker on high and cook for about 2-3 hours About an hour before turning the slow cooker off, add the butternut squash. About 30 minutes before turning the slow cooker off, add the corn and peas. Add salt/pepper to taste according to your liking.
