Hot Apple Jammy

Served in an Irish coffee glass, this drink is one of the most popular hot drinks on the menu at New Leaf Restaurant & Bar (other than their infamous hot chocolate). With flavors reminiscent of a slice of warm apple pie, people have said drinking one of these is “like slippin’ into a warm slipper…” — Allison Beck

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
  • Apple cider, heated in a saucepan over the stove, or with a steam wand
  • Cinnamon stick, for garnish
  • Whipped cream, for garnish

Directions

Pour rum into a 10-ounce glass. Add the hot apple cider and cinnamon stick. Stir briefly to mix, then top with whipped cream and serve.

Apple Shopping Tip

When buying apples, they should be firm, free of bruises, and heavy for their size.

Apple Cooking Tip

Don’t throw out your overripe fruit – instead blend into a smoothie or salad dressing, add to muffin batter, bake into a cobbler, or boil down with sugar and a little lemon juice to make jam.
