Product Review: Kashi Soft-Baked Squares

If dieting for you means giving up french fries and munching on celery sticks while everyone else is enjoying birthday cake, Kashi might just have an alternative. The food brand's new Soft-Baked Squares could possibly be the ticket to satisfying your sweet cravings.

Available in two flavors, chocolate and almond, these bars are naturally sweetened with agave and a bit of molasses. It is apparent that these four-bite bars are loaded with fiber because of their dense texture.

Now, if you are thinking that this will be a super-sweet replacement for a freshly baked chocolate brownie, that's not exactly true. These bars have an earthy taste (hence all-natural) and they are not loaded with a lot of sugar or butter — the goal is clearly focused on nutrition.

Made with the seven whole grains, sweet potatoes, and beans, these snack bars are full of omega-3s and vitamin A, and include 4 grams of fiber in each serving, but that does not mean you should eat the entire box at once. Each serving weighs in at 160 calories and 6 grams of fat, so you still need to follow the golden rule — everything in moderation.
