Periodic Table Of Cocktails: From Appletinis To Zombies

No wonder James Bond kills it in those suits — martinis are one of the lowest-calorie options when it comes to cocktails. Don Draper and his Old Fashioneds? Considering all the sugar, we expect a steadily expanding waistline as he tipples his way into the leisure-suit world of the 1970s.

Calories, fat, carbs, and sugar — do such things even count when you're knocking back a drink or two to, you know, take the edge off? We don't pretend to judge. But if you do care about the relative nutritional value of your favorite drink, you've come to the right joint. Our infographic, below, lists the calories, fat, carbohydrates, and sugar in 46 of the most popular cocktails.

A key thing to remember is that the higher the alcohol content in your liquor, the higher the calories — yet another reason to drink in moderation. To cut back on calories and sugar, choose mixers like soda water, diet tonic, lemon juice, or lime juice — or simply dilute the drink with water. Your bartender probably doesn't have diet tonic, but if you're making drinks at home, you can find it in your local grocery.

Check out HellaWella's Periodic Table of Cocktails to find out if your favorite concoction falls into the same category as Bond's martini or leans more toward the high-calorie, high-sugar style of drinks like the white Russian and piña colada.
