The Orangesicle is a new take on a traditional ice cream coupe but with the addition of Filberts Orange Soda. This treat combines creamy vanilla ice cream with the effervescence of Chicago Soda and orange sherbet to cool off on a hot summer day.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • zest of one orange
  • 2 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 3 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 orange, segmented
  • 2 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1 liter orange soda
Directions
  1. Heat the sugar, orange zest, and juice with the salt in a small pot, then add the vanilla and the milk for the base. Chill the base before churning it in an ice cream machine.
  2. Dissolve the cornstarch with 3 tablespoons of hte orange juice. Next, mix the remainder of the orange juice in a small saucepan with the sugar, and bring the mixture to a boil until it reduces by half. Finally, place the orange segments in the hot sauce and remove the sauce from the heat.
  3. Place a teaspoon of the orange compote at the bottom of a tall glass. Layer one scoop of ice cream and one scoop of orange sherbet in the glass. Then, put another layer of orange compote on top of hte ice cream and sherbet. Finally, add a layer of whipped cream to the top, and finish by pouring the orange soda over the entire mixture.
