A Night To Remember At Gordon Ramsay Steak

Eight of us got together for a night of dining elegance at Gordon Ramsay's Steak in the Paris Casino. We started in the bar as they prepared our table. We've had been perusing the menu for days so we had an idea of what we were going to order but enroute to our seats we got the first look at the Shellfish Platter and knew that we were going to have to increase our order. We sat down and were waited on by no less than 4 different bussers/waiters and were made to feel like one of the privileged few. Our head waiter arrived and gave us the run-down of what we should expect and we were shown the different cuts offered. Next the Sommelier arrived and we ordered 3 bottles of wine to match our orders.

What we ordered:
Shellfish/Appetizers/Soup/Salad-
1 large and 1 small Shellfish Platter, 1 Pea Soup, 1 British Ale Onion Soup, 1 Caesar Salad, 1 Seared Foie Gras.

Sides-
Mac and Cheese, Fingerling Potatoes, Sautéed Mushrooms, Loaded Baked Potato, Roasted Brussels Sprouts.

Main-
me- 24 oz. Bone-in Ribeye, 3- Beef Wellingtons, 1- 18 oz. Bone-in New York, 1- 8 oz. American Skirt Kobe, 1- Wild Pacific Salmon, 1- 8 oz. Filet.

To say we had an abundance of food would be an understatement but we wanted to try a little of everything. So the dinner starts with some amazing cocktails which are worth a review by themselves. Just let me say that you should definitely try the signature drinks as they are superb.

Next our cadre of wait staff starts to bring in the different utensils and plates for the different appetizers/soups/salads. Along with this they bring in these two large octopus stands and tell us they are for our shellfish platters. I'm starting to get excited by this. A cart rolls up and two ice castles are unloaded onto the stands and loaded up with the most wonderful looking, smelling, and tasting shellfish. We had King Crab, Shrimp, Lobster Claw Meat, Langoustino Tails, and several different types of Oysters and Clams. Definitely the highlight was the clams. They were wondrous.

As we were annihilating the shellfish, our appetizers started to arrive. Again, amazing is the only word that even comes close. The pea soup is a pea puree deconstruction that is beyond belief. The English Onion Soup left serious doubt to the origin of French Onion Soup. The only slight let down was the Caesar Salad. It was good but in comparison to the other items was out of place.

As you may have noticed, I haven't mentioned the Foie Gras as of yet. The Foie needs its own paragraph. After the look of rapture that came over my face upon the first bite, everyone at the table had to have some. Picture this if you will, the Foie is perfectly seared on a bed of Roasted and Crushed Sicilian Pistachios. Three dots of Harry's Berry Jam (I looked for it without success) and a swathe of Sun Choke Puree round out the immaculate presentation. I sliced off a small piece of foie, added some pistachios, sun choke, and jam and nearly had an orgasm as it passed my tongue. I will return to have more of this or die trying. Spoiler alert, this meal was by far the best of my life and this Foie was the highlight of the meal.

Ok, as you can see we were all doing the family style and trying a little of everyone's dishes. We are all starting to wonder how we are going to be able to finish the meat that is coming next but let me tell you, you WILL find room because the meat is beyond compare. I like to think of myself as having had some pretty good steak in my life...I was wrong. The steaks that appeared at our table were divine! Each was perfectly cooked, seared and crunchy on the outside, pink and wonderful on the inside.

My Ribeye was a massive hunk of meat that I attacked with care and precision as I wanted to savor every bite. The Beef Wellington was melt in your mouth amazement and I don't know what exactly the sauce is that between the beef and the pastry but it is compelling to say the least. The fish was flaky, perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. The New York was again, just a masterpiece of meat wonderfulness. I had never tasted American Kobe and was amazed at how succulent it tasted; so much so that it's hard to believe it's a protein and not a dessert.

I have trouble finding words to describe how absolutely stupendous this meal was. Every item seemed better than the previous and the service made us all feel like royalty. As we all started standing up to make room for the last bites of each of our steaks, our head waiter arrived and announced that the best was yet to come. We all groaned over our full bellies and stated we didn't think we could make room for anything else. He went into a full on speech about the only way to finish this meal. He of course sold us on trying Gordon Ramsay's Signature Sticky Toffee Pudding with Brown Butter Ice Cream. We were all intrigued, so we ordered one to share. After each of us had one bite we knew how heaven must taste.

The Aroma from the pudding arrived several seconds before the pudding itself. Picture a caramelized sticky bread pudding that tempts your olfactory senses that have already been stretched too far. Then he pours this amazing caramel sauce over the top and you know it's going to be good. The Brown Butter Ice Cream sits on the plate, shaped like a stick of butter of course, like a silent sentinel watching over the decadence to come. So I will reiterate what our head waiter stated, you MUST try this dessert, regardless of how full you think you are.

I am finding it hard to summarize this meal but I must, because now I'm hungry. I must eat something even though it will not compare to the meal or the experience we all had this night. Every time we thought it couldn't get better, it did. If you are in Las Vegas and want a meal that you will not soon forget then you must go to Paris and have a meal at Gordon Ramsay Steak.
