We put together a list of the most exciting restaurant openings for Summer 2014
Look out for these exciting new restaurants from chefs all over the country!

This summer, we're looking forward to a pop-up from the Garces Group (Philadelphia), Morimoto and Tom Collichio in Las Vegas, a tapas project from Aarón Sánchez and John Besh (Baltimore), and other intriguing restaurant openings all over the country. What else? Guy Fieri is opening two restaurants (Atlantic City and Baltimore), an unnamed project from Paul Kahan is opening in late August (Chicago), and we're weeks, maybe days, away from the opening of Petite Trois from Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook, and Vinny Dotolo. San Francisco

Game — Big game comes to the Bay area with Game, featuring “American exotic cuisine” with menu items like bison, Guinea hen and pheasant and a daily special game meat, by executive chef Zack Freitas of All Spice.

Location: 648 Bush St., Nob Hill

Opening: Early July

Alembic 2.0 — San Francisco favorite Alembic, after being closed for months, is coming back in a big way with a brand-new kitchen and dining room featuring chef Ted Fleury’s modern American small plates and selections like lamb shoulder and rib eye steak.

Location: 1725 Haight St., Haight-Ashbury

Opening: Early July

Las Vegas

Morimoto — Located in the famous Mirage Hotel, chef Masaharu Morimoto will be serving his acclaimed and artfully-made sushi as well as other upscale Japanese cuisine inside his first Vegas restaurant. Morimoto will be joined by Tom Colicchio, who will open Heritage Steak inside the Mirage as well.

Griddle Café 

SLS Hotel Restaurants — The highly-anticipated SLS Hotel opening on the strip this August, will feature a number of upscale and casual California-based eateries including Bazaar by José Andrés (a whimsical tapas restaurant), Griddle Café (with a menu full of mouthwatering pancakes) and Katsuya (high-end sushi restaurant from Hollywood).

Opening: August 2014

Made.LV — Husband and wife team Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla will be opening up this “modern American tavern” later in the summer with healthy twists on comfort food. The restaurant will also be decked out in retro arcade games and bocce ball courts.

Los Angeles

Petit Trois Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook, and Vinny Dotolo are soon to open Petit Trois right next to their restaurant, Trois Mec. According to Dotolo, the restaurant will open “within the next couple of weeks.”

Pistola The upcoming Italian restaurant will serve fresh pasta, prime steaks, seafood, classic cocktails, and more.

Big Gay Ice Cream — Doug Quint and Bryan Petroff will open an LA location of Big Gay Ice Cream in Downtown Los Angeles “with unicorns in the design.”

San Diego

Común Kitchen & Tavern — Chad White will open a “casual bar with food” with partners Shane Brennan and Demien Farrell. The restaurant will offer a nightly tasting menu inspired by foraged ingredients, as well as small snacks and entrées.

Location: 935 J Street, San Diego, CA

Opening: Summer 2014

Bottega Americano — The large-scale restaurant and market space (think Eataly) will feature “interactive food bars” of pasta, pizza, seafood, salads, and more. Bottega will also have a full-service restaurant and a retail section.

Manolin — Joe Sundberg and Rachel Johnson will open Manolin (named after the boy in The Old Man and the Sea) this summer with Alex Barkley (now of Whale Wins restaurant). The menu will feature small plates, fresh fish, and grilled seafood. The dining room will seat 40, with an additional patio space for around 20 guests.

99 Park

99 Park — Executive chef Quinton Stewart will helm the upcoming fine dining restaurant from Micah Pittman. There will be farm-to-table dishes like Pleasant View duck breast with morels and dry-aged beef burgers. 99 Park will be open for lunch and dinner daily, along with weekend brunch and late-night options.

Portland, Oregon

Mediterranean Exploration Company — John Gorham will open a restaurant this summer that will offer family-style platters inspired by the foods of Israel, Turkey, and North Africa.

Opening: August 2014

BTU Brassiere — A Chinese restaurant and beer brewery is slated to open this summer from Chris Bogart and Nate Yovu, both previously of Burnside Brewery. The space will include a 40-seat dining room and a 600-square-foot brewery. The menu includes Peking duck, roast pork, and may later include dim sum.

NorthEast and Mid-Atlantic

Atlantic City

Guy Fieri’s Chophouse at Bally’s in Atlantic City The Food Network star’s new restaurant will serve steak and seafood options “inspired by resort dining culture and Atlantic City overall.”

Blue Anchor at Spruce Street Harbor Park Now through August 31, Jose Garces and his team will serve casual fare for the warm weather at a pop-up restaurant from the Garces Group, executed by chef Adam DeLosso.

Location: 401 S. Columbus Boulevard at Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA

Opened: June 27

Dizengoff and Abe Fisher — Restaurateur team Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook (Zahav, Federal Donuts, and Percy Street Barbecue) will open two adjacent restaurants. Dizengoff will focus specifically on hummus, and Abe Fisher will feature cuisine of the Jewish diaspora.

Nom Wah Dim Sum Parlor Wilson Tang will open an outpost of the nearly century-old dim sum parlor in Philadelphia’s Chinatown. Tang is expected to announce an opening date in the fall.

Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen — Guy Fieri is heading out to Baltimore to join the ranks at the Horseshoe Casino where he will serve his usual bold flavors, unique bites, and plenty of small plates, as well as a unique frozen tap system bar which delivers shots out of ice dispensers

Food Network

Johnny Sánchez — Two celebrity chefs, Aarón Sánchez.and John Besh have teamed up together to create this unique tapas eatery, also opening inside the brand-new Horseshoe Casino at the end of the summer.

Coppersmith Hall — American comfort food will find a new home inside this dining hall which will be open 19 hours a day, from serving gourmet coffee in the morning, to two permanent food trucks serving lunch in the afternoon, and a full dinner menu at night. The eatery will have an industrial feel, and the trucks will also have the ability to serve liquor.

Bastille Kitchen — This friendly French bistro, featuring plenty of French cheeses and local ingredients, is slated to open this summer with chef Adam Kube at the helm. The menu features classics like pork chop au poivre and French onion soup, as well as fusion selections like prosciutto-wrapped cod and octopus ceviche.

New York City

ABC Home Grown — This highly-anticipated all-veggie spot from Jean-Georges Vongerichten will present vegetarian and vegan food from a “global perspective,” and will be like “an indoor Union Square green market.”

Location: 38 E. 19th St. between Broadway and Park, Flatiron District

Dirty French — The Torrisi and Carbone team are at it again. With plans to expand the juggernaut of their Italian empire, Parm, they will also be opening a brand-new restaurant in the just-opened Ludlow high-rise that will focus on Gallic and whimsical French cuisine.

CosmeCosme, the casual Mexican eatery brought to you by acclaimed Mexico City-based chef Enrique Olvera will be opening soon, serving authentic Mexican comfort food like tortilla soup and sea urchin tostadas with smoked tomatillos.

élan — After the shuttering of the famed Chanterelle restaurant in 2009, chef David Waltuck finally moved on to his newest venture which will serve "contemporary cuisine rooted in classic French technique,” or “American cuisine with a French accent.”

Root and Bone

Root and Bone Root and Bone, which will open this summer under the helm of Yardbird’s chefs Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth in the East Village, will be a homage to the culinary traditions of rural Southern America, featuring twists on fried chicken and other down-home dishes

Opening: Late Summer 2014

Charlie Palmer—The first-ever Manhattan iteration of the Las Vegas and DC-based steakhouse will be coming this summer. Charlie Palmer steak is known for breaking the mold of the “men’s club” steakhouse, and will offer classic dishes like of traditional steakhouse classics like aged ribeyes and porterhouses, as well as more modern cuts like the teres major.

Brooklyn Fare Manhattan­ — It’s finally happening. The beloved grocery store/Michelin-starred restaurant in Brooklyn is coming to Manhattan. From the minds of Cesar Ramirez and Moe Issa comes this Hell’s Kitchen rendition of Brooklyn Fare, which will have a more laid-back style and a menu focused on French and Italian cuisine.

Arrogant Swine — Dubbed “the church of pork” by barbecue expert Tyson Ho, this new East Williamsburg, North Carolina-style BBQ joint will have a “communal hog,” and smoked hams from cities across America.

Washington, D.C.

DBGB — Daniel Boulud is bringing one of his most famous New York eateries to Washington, D.C., and it will feature the same French brasserie/American food New Yorkers have loved for years inside of the city’s brand-new CityCenter.

Location: CityCenter, downtown Washington, D.C.

Maketto — One of DC’s most popular pop-up restaurants will be opening a permanent brick-and-mortar establishments that will combine retail, a marketplace, and a café, including Frenchie’s artisan bakery, Vigilante coffee, and of course Maketto itself, which promises to feature modern Asian cuisine.

Rural Society

Rural Society —The latest from Jose Garces will be his new contemporary Argentine steakhouse, Rural Society, at once Latin-rustic and refined, featuring lots of beef and Argentine wines and cooking styles.

The Promontory — Jared Wentworth is chef behind the upcoming restaurant in Hyde Park. The restaurant concept from the owners behind Longman & Eagle will also serve as a bar and concert venue.

One Off Hospitality Project: The new restaurant from Paul Kahan will seat 40 and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Big Star, another restaurant from Kahan, is next door and undergoing expansions as well.

XOCO Wicker Park — Rick Bayless will open a new location of XOCO that will be much larger than the original location in River North, and include a bar and table service.

River Roast — Chef Tony Mantuano of Spiaggia (and Top Chef Masters) will open a restaurant inspired by London’s roast houses, and will serve roast chicken, fish, and beef.

Trentina — James Beard Award finalist chef Jonathon Sawyer and his wife Amelia will open their long-awaited, Kickstarter-supported restaurant with executive chef Matt Danko.

Sarto’s — Chef Brian Laird will soon open his Italian restaurant featuring an artisan oven and a cicchetti station where small bites will be prepared.

St. Louis

The Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. — James Beard nominee Kevin Nashan will open his second restaurant after Sidney Street Café (St Louis’ Restaurant of the Year 2013). The menu will feature “creative interpretations of coastal favorites such as lobster rolls, po’boy sandwiches, steamed blue crab,” and more.

Libertine — Tim McKee will open Libertine in the place of Uptown Cafeteria, and the new restaurant will be a “modern steakhouse” featuring lots of meat, oysters, and even lighter options like soba noodles and fried tofu. The restaurant will also serve breakfast and brunch options including chicken and waffles and banana bread French toast.

Pax Americana — Adam Dorris and Plinio Sandalio will open a new restaurant featuring family-style dishes and a menu that will change often.

Bernie's Burger Bus — Justin Turner is turning his popular food truck into a brick and mortar restaurant that will include a school bus. The restaurant will serve handcrafted burgers like The Bully, Recess, The Kindergartners, and more.

Proof + Pantry — Michael Martensen and Sal Jafar II will open a modern American restaurant in One Arts Plaza, with dishes like chicken roulade, black truffle chicken, prime strip, and more.

Chauhan Ale & Masala House — Maneet Chauhan, a judge on Food Network’s Choppedwill open a restaurant serving fusion dishes from around the world, along with traditional Indian food. The restaurant is meant to feel like a “British pub with Indian influences,” and will include unique beers from a local brewer.

St. Philip —  is the eagerly-anticipated bakery/pizzeria hybrid coming soon to Austin, and featuring unusual pizza toppings and creations like bacon jam, idiazabal cheese and Lox. The restaurant also promises to feature house-made breads, sandwiches, and unforgettable desserts.

Fork and Vine —  wine-focused, Austin-inspired epicurean adventure promises a down-to-earth, comfortable setting with outdoor seating and a 250-label wine tasting room.

The Pig and Pearl

The Pig and the Pearl — Smoked meats and raw fish: a match made in heaven? Chef Todd Richards and the team from The Shed certainly think so. This new eatery features a smokehouse and a raw bar with smoked duck, pork belly and kimchi, and smoked catfish, among other items.

Krog Street Market — This nine-acre development will feature restaurants, a market, cheesemakers, and bakeries all under one roof, including Yalla: Atlanta’s first Israeli restaurant by chef Todd Ginsberg, and The Luminary, a modern bistro-pub by Top Chef alum Eli Kirshtein.

L’Echon Brasserie — In a world where “Les” and “Las” are starting to be passé, the Pubbelly brothers are looking to bring back French classics in a warm and inviting space, and a beautiful Oceanside patio.

Siena Tavern — Chef Fabio Viviani is opening his first spot in Miami along South Beach featuring lighter tropical dishes and Italian pasta favorites that Viviani is known for. The restaurant has begun a mysterious media campaign with the tagline #fromscratch.

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen — Paula Deen will open the 20,000-square-foot restaurant and an attached “retail operation” inside tourist destination "The Island at Pigeon Forge," which is also home to Dollywood.
