Shake Shack In Madison Square Park Will Close For 5 Months

Shake Shack in New York City's Madison Square Park is set to close for renovations at some point this year. The closure will last an estimated five months, during which time the burger chain's flagship location will undergo changes including interior expansion that will allow more room for food preparation, as well as storage space downstairs.

All costs of the renovations will be covered by Shake Shack and is not expected to affect the park itself.

"The plans have been approved by the PDC (Public Design Commission), and we plan to pursue all permits and approvals so we can begin improvements later this year," announced Edwin Bragg, Shake Shack's director of marketing and communications.

Not long ago, Shake Shack Madison Square Park was the location of the company's tenth year anniversary, celebrated in the form of a weeklong series of collaborations with chefs around New York City. The celebration also resulted in the longest line in Shake Shack history, thanks in part to David Chang's Shrimp Stack burger.
