Starbucks Japan Stages Runway Show Just To Launch New Spring Frappuccino

Starbucks Japan, forever upstaging its U.S. counterpart with an endless supply of new drink inventions and flavor combinations, has again proven its particular knack for showmanship by producing a full fashion show just to launch its new Starbucks Fruits-on-top yogurt Frappuccino.

To introduce the new beverage, Starbucks Japan teamed up with designer Taro Horiuchi, winner of the Newcomer's Prize at Mainichi Fashion Grand Prix Japan, to create a series of dresses that "playfully captured the essence of the beverage with fruit on top."

The drink of honor, Starbucks Fruits-on-top yogurt Frappuccino, consists of "yogurt blended with almonds and four kinds of refreshing fruit jelly — orange, strawberry, yellow peach and white peach — topped with whipped cream." The fashionable Frappuccino is only available from April 15 until June 2.

The original Starbucks Frappuccino, by the way, recently celebrated its 20th birthday, complete with a special birthday flavor. Japan was, in fact, the first country outside the United States and Canada to offer the beverage, in 1996.
