The Queen Of England Refuses To Travel Without This Snack

The Queen of England may drink Champagne every day, but she's not quite so stodgy about everything she consumes. Darren McGrady, a former chef to Queen Elizabeth II, revealed in an interview with Recipes Plus that the queen never travels without her favorite snack: a chocolate biscuit cake.

For example, when she is traveling to Windsor or other places around her kingdom, she may ask a royal chef to accompany her with the choice dessert in tow. And while royal desserts might typically be shared with staff once the queen has had her slice, Elizabeth insists on handling her favorite dessert personally.

"Now the Chocolate Biscuit Cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again every day until it's all gone," McGrady told Recipes Plus. "She'll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake."

That's not the only eating quirk the queen has. McGrady also said that she does not like too much garlic or onion in her meals, and must approve every meal that's sent her way. She also doesn't eat starches, potatoes, or pasta, a fact that likely saddens Italian and Irish diplomats when they visit Buckingham Palace.
