Mario Batali Cooks Lunch For Aziz Ansari In This Amazing Video
Mario Batali has a new cooking web series premiering on Vice's MUNCHIES, and to celebrate the premiere, the TV food personality cooked a three-course dinner for comics and Master of None co-creators Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang.Now that's a conversation we would want to sit in on!
On the menu for the "tre amici" was frittelle di carote (an antipasto of fried shredded carrots and mascarpone), casunziei (fresh pasta filled with a beets and potatoes puree), and polpette (a meatball prepared with swiss chard).
Ansari recently ate his way through Italy, and that's what Batali was inspired by.
"I made dishes [based] on what Aziz just recently traveled to taste and see and understand," Batali told People. "In particular the frittelle di carote was a dish I know he had eaten somewhere and the wine...he actually stayed in the winery that made it. I knew I would be able to tickle his fancy a little bit."
