Jack White Requests Specific Guacamole Recipe Before Shows And Bans Bananas

What's the point of being a celebrity if you can't make up your own standards? The list of wacky pop/rock star demands backstage, known as "riders" is practically endless: Mariah Carey has reportedly demanded bottles of Cristal in her room, and Van Halen supposedly asks for bags of M&M's minus the brown ones. And now, according to the University of Oklahoma, we learn that pale rocker Jack White, loves his guacamole. The University of Oklahoma newspaper published the rider agreement between the college and Jack White's crew, which listed— among other food demands like chicken wings, tortilla chips, and fresh strawberries — a secret recipe for guacamole ("Please don't make it too early before it's served. We'd love to have it around 5 p.m.") The rider also contained the financial agreement of $80,000 for one show played at the university.

Other food demands on the rider listed a strict no-banana policy ("We don't want to see bananas anywhere in the building"), and Jack White's own post-show meal request of a New York strip steak cooked medium, with steamed vegetables on the side and no sauce. Naturally, Jack White was displeased with the leak of his personal requests. The Oklahoma Daily has written that the university has gotten "blackballed" due to the publishing snafu.

White's manager has responded to this follow-up article in the Oklahoma Daily with his own letter, published by Spin Magazine: "The incidents with the OU Daily student newspaper...were unfortunate, unprofessional, and very unwelcoming....Contrary to what some believe, Jack doesn't write the rider nor make demands about his favorite snacks that must be in his dressing room. We're not even sure he likes guacamole but we do know that the folks who work hard to put on the show do enjoy it."

Whether or not Jack likes guacamole, the recipe is supposedly really good. According to Buzzfeed, though, the guacamole was so chunky that it looked more like a salad than a dip.
