Former 'Top Gear' Host Slammed For Saying Ice Cream Was Gay
Former Top Gear host Richard Hammond was slammed for insinuating on a recent episode of Amazon's car-centric show Grand Tour that eating ice cream was somehow associated with being gay.
During the episode, which became available for streaming on Amazon on Dec. 2, Hammond's co-host criticized the light interior upholstery of a car, saying it would be difficult "to enjoy a dark chocolate Magnum ice cream" while sitting inside.
Hammond replied by saying, "It's all right, I don't eat ice cream. ... It's something to do with being straight. There is nothing wrong with it, but a grown man eating an ice cream — it's that way, rather than that way."
The internet exploded with angry responses:
Richard Hammond has a masculinity so fragile a simple ice cream is enough to leave a gay sized crack in it

I've eaten a lot of ice cream during my pregnancy. Am I exposing my unborn son to a radical gay agenda by doing so? #hammond

Of course, the gay business owners behind the uber-successful New York ice cream shop, Big Gay Ice Cream, were asked to comment, but they were not amused:
I keep getting asked for a comment on this @RichardHammond thing. Here's my comment: it's boring and really stupid. The end! pic.twitter.com/8CODxClYx8
