Taco Bell Subs Tortilla Chips With Triangular-Shaped Chicken

Taco Bell has taken nachos where they've never been before by substituting tortilla chips with... chicken. Triangular, battered, and deep-fried chicken served with a nacho cheese dipping sauce, that is.

The Crispy Chicken Chips is the latest Taco Bell test menu item that's making its rounds on the internet.

"Taco Bell's Crispy Chicken Chips look like wedge-shaped chicken tenders," Nomura analyst Mark Kalinowski told Business Insider. "Between this test item and the Naked Chicken Chalupa, which used fried chicken as a 'taco shell,' Taco Bell clearly wants to figure out innovative ways to use chicken to its advantage."

Business Insider pointed out that fried chicken is #trending and chicken prices are low, thus explaining the rise of new chicken menu items at fast-food restaurants such as Chicken Fries from Burger King and Chicken Selects from McDonald's.
